Hikone Castle, located in Shiga Prefecture, is one of Japan's 12 remaining castle towers and a national treasure. The cherry blossom on the castle tower represents Hikone Castle, one of Shiga Prefecture's most famous cherry blossom viewing spots. Every spring, more than 1,000 cherry trees surround the moat, stone walls, and castle tower, creating a spectacular view.
Japanese text on the back: "Ii no Chibei"
The elite troops led by the Sengoku period warlord Ii Naomasa were decorated with vermilion armor and banners. Hikone Castle was the residence of the Ii family.
