Design Introduction
Japanese word for heart: 「ほうとう」
Yamanashi Prefecture's traditional wide noodle hot pot dish. Wheat flour is kneaded into dough, rolled out, and cut into wide, flat "hōtō noodles," then mixed with a variety of ingredients and simmered in a miso broth.

Japanese text on the back: "伝家's treasured sword"
Literal meaning: a family heirloom sword.
The Japanese pronunciation of the sword: ほうとう(Houtou)
So what it actually means is: Yamanashi's family heirloom is ほうとう!

Cultural trivia
The name "ほうとう" originates from the Chinese character "馎饦" and can be seen as early as the Heian period . It was one of the dishes eaten by nobles in ceremonies at that time.
