Cultural Trivia <br />"Wanko Soba" is a unique way of eating soba noodles in Iwate Prefecture (Morioka and Hanamaki areas). The special feature is that the waiter continuously puts a small amount of hot soba noodles into a small wooden bowl. After the customer finishes one bowl, they will add another bowl. Accompanied by shouts, people compete to see who can eat the most bowls. It is normal for one person to eat 80 to 120 bowls. It is a special dish to experience the local hospitality culture and challenge one's appetite.
