 Lake trout are originally cold-water fish from North America, and only a few lakes in Japan are suitable for their survival. Lake Chuzenji is one of the most famous lake trout habitats in Japan.
Lake Chuzenji has been a "sacred place for lake trout fishing" since the Meiji era. Every year after the fishing ban ends, it attracts a large number of anglers who rush to be the first to fish.
